Jax Deluca became Director of Media Arts at the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in January 2016. In this position, she manages the NEA’s grantmaking activities for arts organizations across the country working in media arts, which includes film, video, audio, web-based, and other electronic media. Prior to joining the NEA, she was executive director of Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center (Buffalo, NY), a nonprofit serving Western New York which promotes innovation in media arts through equipment access, education, and exhibition. At Squeaky Wheel, Deluca had overseen major expansion efforts, including fundraising, new jobs and media equipment, an expanded arts education curriculum, and relocation into upgraded facilities that included a digital media lab, gallery, and microcinema. Her field experience includes twelve years working at the intersection of arts and community-building as an artist, administrator, and educator. She holds a degree in Electronic Integrated Arts from Alfred University.
